The @Hillsdale College link to 1776 Report is here: Please send to everyone and next Friday we will discuss in depth. The Biden Administration's rush to erase the report is a stunning capitulation to the left, and an assault on the free exchange of ideas.
Next: @NFL analyst @SteveKornacki. Steve is a humble and wonderful fellow, but will he resist the lure of the SEC mob when he begins to dabble in college prognostication? Hamilton in Federalist 72 warned that "love of fame, the ruling passion of the noblest minds." It's a danger.
Today's "Better Letter" by @RPSeawright is a crucial introduction (again) to dangers of social media and bias confirmation: The necessary follow-up is a 600 page deconstruction of the surveillance network built openly in the U.S.:
"The advent of omnipresent digital technology has turned this sort of common confirmation bias into a highly profitable business model. The digital revolution means the path from lunacy to mark is without barrier..." 1
It would be an enormous mistake --enormous-- for the @HouseGOP to do other than confirm @Liz_Cheney in her job as Conference Chair. She was in a small minority on a big issue, which ought to tell everyone she will vote her conscience and can be trusted to speak her mind.
2) In the past week, @business says 912,497 vaccine doses were administered per day — or 91% of Biden’s goal of 1M Americans per day.
Either the situation on the ground is better than team Biden acknowledges, or Biden’s target is less ambitious than it seems.
Great SCOOP from @mj_lee on how bad this situation is with vaccine distribution: "There is nothing for us to rework. We are going to have to build everything from scratch," one source said.
1) Biden advisers keep making this claim to reporters, but the idea they’re starting “from scratch” seems like a gambit to lower expectations.
Trump was dangerous on covid. Many problems to fix. But government officials did set up a system that’s distributed 36M doses to states.
