A new UN Climate Change report shows that climate plans submitted so far by countries do not put us on a path to meet the Paris Agreement goals.
But many parties must still submit their #NDC. This year, we can turn this trend around. #ItsPossible
Important new @UN report is a stark reminder of the urgency of ramping up climate action in 2021. Much work to be done with my friends @AntonioGuterres and @PEspinosaC to rally countries to confront the climate crisis.
Today @JonathanWNV & I had the first meeting of our new high-level ministerial dialogue to jointly address the climate crisis. Thank you @POTUS & Canada PM @JustinTrudeau for recognizing the importance of accelerating climate efforts in our countries.
Congratulations to my friend and our new @USUN Ambassador, Linda Thomas-Greenfield! Our nation is fortunate to have her voice back at the table and I can’t wait to team up with her again – combating the climate crisis this time. Let’s get to work LTG!
Climate change is the biggest threat to security that modern humans have ever faced.

Combating the climate crisis requires every tool in the toolbox - including international development. My friends at @USAID are helping other countries mitigate and adapt to climate change. Check out ’s resources for development practitioners worldwide.
At @MunSecConf, @POTUS said: "We can no longer delay or do the bare minimum to address climate change. This is a global existential crisis, and we’ll all suffer the consequences if we fail." Our message to the world is clear: America is back in this fight.
Great to sit down with Italian #AmbVarricchio, British Ambassador @KarenPierceUK, and @sbg1 on the day we officially rejoined Paris Agreement. Raising global ambition to meet this moment is vitally important. Failure is not an option.
Climate change is one of the most complex security challenges we've ever faced. Appreciate the opportunity to join @ischinger to discuss the crisis and the hard work ahead of us at the Munich Security Conference.
Deeply grateful to have such a strong partner in @UN Secretary General @AntonioGuterres. Thank you for welcoming the United States back into the Paris Agreement and continuing to encourage countries around the world to work toward net zero emissions by 2050.
Today’s the day. We’re officially back in the Paris Agreement - again part of the global climate effort. No country can fight this fight on its own. We look forward to a productive year and a successful #COP26 in Glasgow. #GoodToBeBack
Enjoyed speaking with @MOEJ_Climate Minister Koizumi about our re-joining the Paris Agreement and Japan’s plan to cut their carbon emissions to net-zero by 2050 - a goal the U.S. shares. We need the entire world to be on that path.
Tackling the climate crisis requires the kind of big impacts that can only be achieved through global partnerships. Good conversation yesterday on climate cooperation, Brazil’s leadership, and sustainable economic growth with @ernestofaraujo, @rsallesmma, and @BRAmbassadorUS.
US Presidential @ClimateEnvoy John Kerry joins Italy's #AmbVarricchio & British Ambassador @KarenPierceUK for a conversation on "Climate Change: @g20org, G7, COP26 & the US" moderated by Susan Glasser @sbg1
Tune in Friday, Feb 19 at 1:45pm ET on Facebook:
I’m beyond grateful to the scientists around the globe who developed COVID-19 vaccines and for the brave medical providers everywhere – and especially to those at @DeptVetAffairs in Bedford, MA – who have risked their own lives over the last year to help others. Thank you, all!
Thank you PM @NarendraModi, EAM @DrSJaishankar & @teriin for hosting me at #WSDS2021. India's commitment is clear - the country is taking important steps to back up words with real action. Our nations have a great deal to gain from joining together to confront the climate crisis.
