The stories told of #Holocaust are real, yet unimaginable, life experiences. We were honored to have 85-yr old Betty Eppel recount her experience as a child at the commemoration of #HolocaustRemembranceDay in Accra. The goal is to remember, learn and foster peace.
On this #HolocaustRemembranceDay I remember and mourn the millions and millions of Jewish lives lost to senseless genocide. May this never, EVER happen again. I stand in solidarity with all my Jewish brothers and sisters, in London and around the world ✡️
On #HolocaustRemembranceDay please remember Tomas Kulka from Moravia. He was 5 when the Nazis came and for the next two years he suffered. When he was 7, he and his Grandmother were murdered in a gas chamber in Sobibor. My hope is that she managed to hold onto him at the end.
I didn't know anyone who experienced it.
I wasn't alive when it happened.
I will never know what it must have been like.
Yet I feel it is personal. Because I'm Human, and my heart bleeds for them. Because this was a crime against our species.
"Into it they shoveled their reason, their logic, their knowledge, but worst of all, their conscience. And the moment we forget this — the moment we cease to be haunted by its remembrance — then *we* become the gravediggers." (2/2) #HolocaustMemorialDay #HolocaustRemembranceDay
